Westbury Junior School celebrated in style for the European day of languages, when all the children had the opportunity to experience different languages and cultures.

In Year 5, they learnt about Japan, studying the culture, how to do origami, food and are now able to count to ten in Japanese. They also became proficient at using chop sticks. The Year 6 children chose to find out more about Italy by making pizza, finding out about the history and learning how to carry out a conversation in Italian. In Year 3, the children wowed the school in assembly with their flamenco dancing and Year 4 explained all about Roman numerals.

Jane Vaughan, French teacher at the school, said: “It was wonderful to see the children so immersed in other cultures outside their own. Many were inspired by learning about other countries and hopefully it will foster a love of all things international.”
