PLANS on how a Trowbridge Campus could fit on the preferred East Wing site were presented to Trowbridge Area Board last Thursday.

Wiltshire Council’s Economic Development Team has several different ideas for how the working proposal from Trowbridge Campus Operations Board could fit on the site, when the former library and council offices are demolished.

Tim Martienssen, head of economic development at Wiltshire Council, spoke to the area board about the next steps for the campus project hoped to be part of the town’s regeneration.

The development team will now commission a study to test the scheme and see if a campus development would work there.

Mr Martienssen said the study will help shed light on the costs of development and potential value of the site for other uses, the potential scale and layout of campus buildings and potential impact of such development on surrounding land.

He added that it will also explore how the development could be achieved within site constraints and check and test the uses proposed by the campus board.

Colin Kay, chairman of Trowbridge Community Operations Board, said: “Trowbridge needs something that is high quality, but I am glad we are moving forward and it is good to see all the facilities could fit on that site. I think it is the best site, as it is most central and close to the library.”

Updates will be given by the development team to the area board when the latter next meets on March 12.
