PROMISING youngsters are celebrating after being awarded certificates for completing The Learning Curve’s 12-week Prince’s Trust Team programme at Trowbridge Town Hall on Wednesday (April 15).

The programme, supported by Trowbridge-based Learning Curve, is for 16-25 year olds currently not in education, employment or training and aims to build confidence and improve skills in communication and problem solving.

During the course, the learners completed a community project to create an assault course for a scout group at Jubilee Woods, after raising the money required to purchase the materials.

The course also included a residential activity week, work experience and CV preparation. Of the ten who completed the course, eight are either going on to further education or have found jobs.

Craig Enderby, team leader for the Prince’s Trust, said: “The presentation was fantastic and we had around 70 guests, including the Mayor of Trowbridge, for the end of course awards.

“We had 10 learners complete the course and eight of those are going on to continued education or have already secured employment, which is a great figure for us.

“This year’s course is probably one of our best to date. Our learners did a great job building the assault course at Jubilee Woods and John Cox, from the Wiltshire West Districts Scouts, came to the presentation to say thank you for their help.

“They also held sessions with the residents at Leonard Cheshire in Chippenham and completed a week-long work experience placement, before receiving interview tips from HR managers at Audience Systems and Acheson & Acheson.”

The next Prince’s Trust Team programme starts on May 11. For more information about the next course, visit www.learningcurve.org.uk/TEAM
