Two of the most advanced aircrafts in the world flew over Wiltshire last night witnessed by hundreds of people relaxing in their gardens.

The two B2 Spirit stealth bombers flew across at around 8pm coming in from the west across Frome into the Trowbridge area, following the route of the canal.

They were thought to be heading for RAF Fairford in Gloucester.

Householder Rob Hopkins watched the aircraft as they flew over the Broadmead estate. He said: "It was unbelievable. Suddenly they were overhead and easily visible. You didn’t expect to see them as you sat in the garden."

Peter Tilley was outside tending to his garden when he watched the bombers fly over. He said: "They seemed to be flying at a relatively low level for a stealth aircraft as if they were descending in preparation for landing. It was quite a sight to see."

Stealth aircraft are designed to avoid detection using a variety of stealth technologies that reduce reflection/emission of radar, radio-frequency spectrum, and audio, collectively known as stealth technology
