TROWBRIDGE firm apetito presented a cheque on Tuesday for almost £1,300 to Wiltshire-based charity Alzheimer’s Support, after holding a Family Fun Day fundraiser at Trowbridge Rugby Club.

Alongside the many stalls and a BBQ, apetito staff and their families enjoyed a wide range of fun activities, including surf rodeos, space hopper races and duels on a ‘gladiator’ bouncy castle.

Popular children’s attractions included face painting and treasure hunt trails, while there was also a competitive five-a-side football league championship with staff from across the business taking part.

Five teams participated in a ‘round robin’ three-hour tournament to compete for the top spot, with the IT team finally taking the winning trophy.

Lee Sheppard, Director of Public Policy and External Affairs at apetito, said: “Alzheimer’s Support is a charity that’s very close to our hearts at apetito. We’d like to thank everyone who came along to support such a worthwhile cause and making the day such a success.”

Staff also went head to head in a challenge to be awarded the best baker, with Rob Skiepko, planning administrator, and Rob Sarga, sweets department team leader, crowned the winners for their carrot cake and chocolate and cream coconut cake creations.

The day was part of a series of charitable fundraising events that have so far raised £23,500. Further fundraising activities planned by apetito staff range from taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge, a trek to Stonehenge and even a sponsored sky dive.

Laura Fenson, fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Support, said: “Alzheimer’s Support is absolutely delighted to be apetito’s Charity Partner and would like to thank them for their continued support and generosity.

“Their Family Fun Day was an absolute success. The day was very well organised with lots of activities for the children with many of their staff helping out.”
