CAT lovers in Wiltshire will have the chance to rescue and help feral cats after a cat rehousing charity opened up a new branch.
Cat Action Trust, the society for the welfare of cats, was initially set up to humanely control, contain and maintain the feral cat population and was among the first to use the Trap, Neuter, Return policy, a programme to sterilize and rehome feral cats.
The charity has now opened a new Bath and Mendip branch and is looking for volunteer cat lovers to help with all aspects of volunteering, mainly indoor fostering and fundraising
The branch will cover Bath, Radstock, Trowbridge, Frome, Warminster and Westbury as well as surrounding villages.
Indoor fosterers are vital to the charity’s work, as for most cats, being inside is far more suitable than staying in outdoor pens.
All food, training and equipment will be provided for indoor fosterers, the only things needed are a big home and plenty of care, until the trust a permanent home for the cat.
Even though the charity hasn’t officially opened its ‘cat flaps’ yet, it has its first rescued cat, Tom, who was handed into the charity after being found stray in Trowbridge.
If you would like more information or would like to foster a cat, such as Tom, contact the charity on 07504 129955.
