THE children from Springmead School and Beckington School celebrated the 90th birthday of a popular and much loved reigning monarch in style.
In a patriotically decorated St George’s Church, both schools marked the special birthday by singing the national anthem, and, of course, Happy Birthday, as well as watching a short film about Queen Elizabeth’s remarkable life.
Springmead's Chaplain, Peter Stone, spoke to the children about the importance of the Queen’s Christian faith. Then it was time for birthday cake. Staff had been busy baking to create a beautiful display of birthday cupcakes in the church and the children, who were all wearing crowns, took their cakes to Beckington School’s playground to enjoy before returning to school.
