A HILPERTON resident is calling on Wiltshire Council to repair a damaged road which he believes is the worst in Trowbridge for potholes.

Tim Hayhoe said despite countless telephone calls to Wiltshire Council, he believes his complaints are falling on deaf ears as nearly 50 potholes have built up in Wyke Road over the past few years.

“I got told there was no money to be spent on the road,” he added.

“It is probably the worst road in Trowbridge. It boils down to the fact that they haven’t maintained them.

“I spoke to the local councillor about the issue and he said we have to take photos of what we think the problem is and, well, there must be at least 50 potholes in the road.”

The 51-year-old of nearby Carisbrooke Crescent, said after recently moving to the area, he was appalled at the lack of improvements made to the carriageway which has potholes two inches deep.

“I sent a letter to Wiltshire Council and asked what they are going to do about it because my neighbour said it hasn’t been done for more than 10 years.

“In your council tax you can see that money goes to road maintenance but I think it is disingenuous when they charge you for something not done in your area.

“The council tax is going up year on year but I wouldn’t mind paying a reasonable amount if they spent it reasonably.

“Of course, over time the damage on the road will cause damage to a car with wear and tear and they keep saying you need to report it with photos on their system but when I tried on multiple occasions, it crashed.

“It felt like a bit of a joke really.

“I thought someone needs to do something about this because the damage has to be the worst in Trowbridge.”

Mr Hayhoe, who is the managing director of Forces War Records, added that before serious damage is caused to a car, he hopes Wiltshire Council repairs some, if not all, of the potholes.

“It is a really short road and so it wouldn’t cost that much to fill them in,” he said. “I know it would make such a difference.”

Wiltshire Council is yet to comment on the matter.
