FITZMAURICE Primary School said goodbye and thanks to much loved staff member Heather Jay who retired after serving the school for 40 years.
Mrs Jay, 69, completed her last shift on Friday, May 27, after working as a cleaner and before that a dinner lady over the course of four decades.
Head teacher Tracy Dunn said: “She loved the job and was so caring, supportive and involved with the children.
“She has served this school beautifully for so long and we are very sad to see her go. “After 40 years she has decided to retire and we wish her well.
“I am hoping she will come back now and again – the kids loved her.”
