A 15-YEAR-OLD boy was hit by a moped as he walked to school in Trowbridge yesterday morning with the scooter in question fleeing the scene.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened yesterday morning around 8.30am (June 20).

The boy was crossing the light controlled crossing by the Anchor and Hope pub in Frome Road when he was struck by a red moped.

The rider of the motorcycle stopped and apologised to the boy but left the scene without leaving their details.

The boy, from Trowbridge, was left shocked and bruised and it understood he broke his arm.

PC Jonathan Kilburn said: "I am interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen the incident on Frome Road yesterday (Monday) morning especially if they are able to give me the registration number of the bike.

"We believe it was displaying "L" plates and it is alleged that they went through the red light at the crossing."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Kilburn on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
