DESPITE the BBC reporting ‘the biggest ever year-on-year decline’ in this year’s GCSEs, Warminster School pupils celebrated strong results.
The A* and A pass rate at the school remains at around 30 per cent and continues the positive trend of recent years.
In separate sciences, 56 per cent of pupils gained A* and A, which enhances the school’s reputation for its excellence in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.
Outstanding individual performances included Xander Veitch, Charles Powell and Cassandra McCormack, who between them achieved twenty-four A* and six A grades.
Headmaster Mark Mortimer said: “As I said last week about the A-level results, what matters to me most is not the number of A* grades, but whether the boys and girls have done their best and fulfilled their potential.
“The majority here have done that and, while the performance of some of our pupils in achieving A* and A grades across the board is fantastic news and testament to them, their parents and their teachers, I am equally proud of those who have worked hard, given 100 per cent and achieved Bs and Cs."
