DILTON Marsh Playing Field played host to a bumper community fun day on Wednesday (August 24).

Face painting, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts and games were all on offer, all free of charge, as churches in and around Westbury combined to organise a jam-packed day of fun for around 100 local residents.

The day was an initiative organised by West End Baptist, All Saints, Holy Saviour in Westbury Leigh, Holy Trinity in Dilton Marsh and United Reforms churches.

Organiser Sharon Jones said: “I was concentrating on painting faces all day but from what I saw people really enjoyed themselves, which is what it was all about.

“We held another fun day in Westbury a few weeks ago and the weather has been a bit kinder today, which has added to the overall atmosphere.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made it such a success, including Selwood Housing, who kindly paid for the bouncy castle.”

“The idea was to do provide a nice, fun afternoon for everyone and that’s exactly what is was.”

Ffiona Berry, aged six, from Hawkeridge, said: “I have had a really fun day and liked the bouncy castle.”

“Face painting was my favourite part, I got a unicorn on my cheek to match my cousin.”

Reverend Steve Jarvis, from the All Saints Church, was on hand to talk to families and help serve tea and cakes.

Staff from the White Horse Children’s Centre were on hand to assist with badge making while Health Trainers from Wiltshire Council offered advice on healthy living.

Harley Moore, four, said: “I went on the bouncy castle and had my arm painted.

“It has been really fun.”
