THE maternity unit at the Royal United Hospital in Bath has been reborn after changing its name to the Bath Birthing Centre.
Formerly known as the Central Delivery Suite, the unit still boasts the same midwifery team on hand to provide the same services to expectant and new mums in the same location at the hospital.
Di Dorrington, Maternity Matron at the RUH said: “Changing the name may seem a trivial thing, but mothers tell us the use of positive language can make a big difference to how they feel. We want to promote the positivity of birth and help make new mothers feel more comfortable and confident.
“Of course, each experience is different but regardless of the level of obstetric and midwifery support required for each mother and baby, our message is that babies are ‘born’, not ‘delivered’."
