THE LEG Club in Bradford on Avon has been helped to carry on its valuable work keeping local people healthy thanks to a donation from the town's Freemasons.

Sue Denmark, chairman of the Bradford on Avon Leg Club, received a cheque for £1,100 from Mark Kendall, the master of the Bradford on Avon Freemasons.

Mrs Denmark said: “It is the dedication of the fantastic Leg Club clinical staff working alongside the wonderful volunteers which makes the club such a success, a true team effort.”

Amanda Brookes, project manager for the club and founder of the Leg Club back in 2014, was surprised and delighted by the donation.

Mrs Brookes said: “One of the members of the Leg Club is also part of the Masons, after visiting the club and seeing that we are looking for extra funding to help pay for the equipment as well as fund some of the social aspects of the club he returned to the Masons and told them about us.

“It was a lovely surprise, we had no idea how much they had raised for us. The donations help pay for the technology we need to help people who suffer from problems with their legs.”

During the presentation at St Margaret’s Hall on October 11, Dr James Heffer, the older person’s lead from the practice, said the club had made an enormous difference to all the patients who use it, helping to improve social isolation and self-management of other health issues in the town.
