STAFF at Keevil School near Trowbridge promise that they will find every pupil an activity or subject that they will excel at to boost their learning during their time at the school.

The Church of England Primary School in Main Street, Keevil, welcomes 107 pupils through its doors every day, from Year 1 to Year 6. The pupils are supported and challenged to help them make the most of their primary school education.

Max Burr, head of Keevil for the past seven years, said: “We have four classes with two year groups in each. As a Church of England school we teach the children with the theme of the Good Samaritan, ensuring that children do their best to help others and treat other pupils how they wish to be treated. We try to teach compassion at the heart of everything we do.

“I used to be acting head at Wansdyke and at a school in Tidworth. I am really proud of how Keevil has grown during my time here.”

Keevil offers its pupils a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to enhance the children’s learning and skills.

“We have 11 extra-curricular activities such as music classes, sports and more. We also provide residential trips for our pupils. We do biannual trips to Danywenalt in Wales for our Years 3 and 4 and Pencelli in Wales for our Years 5 and 6s. The trips to Pencelli give the pupils an intense experience in the outdoors that help to comfort them in their first trips away from home as well as pushing them to experience different things like going into caves,” said Mr Burr.

As well as a plethora of extra activities for the pupils, including a number of after school clubs, Mr Burr says that the curriculum offers an exciting challenge for the children.

“We offer choir practice, band performances and our forest school, which helps children learn more about nature. I think pupils and parents should choose to come to Keevil as we offer such a great range of activities and lessons and we strive to find every pupil’s talent and nurture that during their time at the school,” he said.
