A GROUP of people with multiple sclerosis want to see some new faces at their weekly exercise classes.

The current group of eight meet at Wesley Methodist Church in Newtown every Thursday morning for fun sessions led by personal trainer Pete James, of Lateral Fitness.

Sylvia Howard, who was diagnosed with MS 20 years ago and left her job as a midwife at Trowbridge Hospital two years ago, has been attending the sessions since September and said they have changed her life.

The 63-year-old said: “It really is the highlight of my week, we all have such a good laugh and a bit of banter as well as doing the exercises.

“I honestly couldn’t recommend it more; the instructor, Pete, is absolutely brilliant and really gets everyone going every session.

“For only £2.50 a session it’s cheaper than going to the gym and there’s much more of a social aspect.

“We also work in pairs during the sessions which is great fun.”

Mr James leads the class through a range of exercises including stretching, shadow-boxing, coordination exercises and stints on a rowing machine before they have tea, biscuits and a chat.

Sara Reeve, 57, treasurer of the group, said: “I really enjoy coming along every week, as everyone does.

“We’ve really gelled and all get on very well.

“It’s so nice to be with a group of people who all understand what you’re going through. There's no judging, everyone is just here to have a good time.

“There must be more people in Trowbridge who would like to join so if you’re reading this, please get in touch – we’d love to see you next week."
