INSPIRED by the support offered after a family tragedy, a Westbury mum is holding a raffle to raise money for stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands.

Claire Chambers, 31, wanted to show support for her sister, Gemma Tolley, and her husband Jay Tolley, also from Westbury, after Gemma gave birth to a stillborn baby daughter, Amelia, last August.

Along with her partner, Dan Sheppard, she has spent the past few months gathering tantalising prizes for the raffle, which she hopes will bring in a large sum for the charity.

The self-employed cleaner, of Cossington Square, said: “It came completely out of the blue when we heard that Amelia had sadly passed away.

“It really was the most awful thing you could ever imagine.

“Sands were brilliant after it happened, they made a little memory box which included Amelia's hand print and other things that Gemma can remember her by.

“Obviously it’s still a very sad situation but it’s nice that my sister at least has something.”

The raffle prizes include a day pass at Center Parcs for four people, a family day pass to Haynes International Motor Museum, day passes to Peppa Pig World and much more.

Tickets for the raffle are £2 each and can be bought at Westbury Infants or Westbury Juniors School, where Miss Chambers’ son Milo attends, up until Thursday, April 6 and at Miles Apart in High Street, Westbury, until Saturday, April 22.

The draw is taking place on Monday, April 24 and will be done by the headmaster of Westbury Juniors, Richard Hatt.
