A PETITION has been started to try and reinstate late night entry at The Albany Palace in Trowbridge.

JD Wetherspoon, which owns the pub, has decided to close its other branch in the town, Sir Isaac Pitman, and turn Albany Palace into a pub, meaning there is no more late night entry.

The Albany Palace was a popular venue at weekends but since the change, the only remaining late night venue in the town is The Boutique, Castle Street.

Danny Purnell, who started the petition, said: “The Albany Palace in Trowbridge was once a place for students, young adults and the older generations to enjoy a club-like experience in the town.

“Since shutting the Lloyds aspect of The Albany Palace in Trowbridge, it has left its usual party-goers with only two other real options which are Boutique, a much smaller venue which is more expensive, or Bath."

So far the petition has been signed by 167 people.
