WORK is set to begin on the construction of a new retirement complex in Trowbridge later this year.

McCarthy and Stone, the developer behind the multi-million pound scheme, has announced that it plans to launch it at Charter House in Seymour Road in December, with the first residents expected to move in July 2018.

Kim Caldwell, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone Southern, said: “Our new development will provide a great opportunity for people aged 60 and over who want to carry on living independently and enjoying life to the full, but might benefit from downsizing their current property to something that is lower maintenance and less of a burden on their time.

“Our Retirement Living developments are very social places so there’s also lots of opportunities if they choose, for homeowners to take part in weekly events.

“As well as this, there is a stunning guest suite for when they have friends or family to stay.

“An experienced House Manager is also there to oversee the day to day running of the development and provide a helping hand if required.”

Ahead of starting construction, McCarthy are Stone is inviting local people to enter a competition to suggest a name for the new development, with a £250 cheque being awarded to the winner.

To enter the competition, email your name and contact details, along with your suggested development name, with the subject header ‘Trowbridge’ to mccarthyandstone@mccann.com.
