WILTSHIRE Police have issued a warning after two men entered a house in Dilton Marsh claiming to be from the council.

The incident, which happened in The Crescent on November 7, has led police to warn locals about how to treat doorstep callers.

Their advice is if you are not sure, don't open the door, as well as keeping doors locked even when at home and installing a spy hole and door chain.

Police also say homeowners should ask to see a form of ID, check doorstep caller's company details are genuine and to never leave them alone with the door open.

The two men involved in the recent incident left the house through the back door when they were challenged, and it is not thought anything was stolen.
