PERSIMMON Homes Wessex has named Wiltshire Mind as its Community Champion and donated £1,000 to help fund running costs for the charity’s support groups across Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Mind provides lifechanging support to people suffering from a range of mental health issues. The organisation runs six main support groups in Chippenham, Melksham, Trowbridge, Malmesbury, Devizes and Salisbury, providing support to a large number of individuals in Wiltshire.

Charles Brunker, fundraising executive, said: “We have to raise all our own funds to enable us to continue our work. Attendance at the groups has a huge impact on the lives of many. Our support helps individuals to build confidence, improve wellbeing and can help prepare for the return to paid employment or undertaking voluntary work.

“We’re delighted to have been selected as one of Persimmon Homes Wessex’s Community Champions.”

The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director, said: “This community initiative is a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where Persimmon Homes works.

“Wiltshire Mind is providing a much-needed service and we are very happy to be supporting the charity.”

If community groups and charities were unsuccessful with past applications Persimmon Homes Wessex is urging them to visit the website and try again.
