PLANS have been put forward to fill a vacant shop in Trowbridge and replace it with a children’s play centre.

The former QS Extra store has been empty since June 2016 but this week an application was put in by Baloo’s Ltd to potentially change that.

The applicant intends to convert the large shop into a soft play centre for children aged between 0-12.

The facility will be used for children’s parties and pay and play sessions.

At Tuesday’s town and development committee, Trowbridge councillors welcomed this proposal.

Cllr Edward Kirk said: “I think this is fantastic news for the town. It has been empty for a long time so I am delighted that these plans have been put forward.

“That is one of the big buildings that could be filled and I hope more follow suit.

“We discussed this at the Trowbridge Chamber about how the landlord has lowered the rates, which is great.”

Wiltshire Council’s decision date should be delivered in late April.
