PUPILS at Westbury C of E Junior School spent the day celebrating St George’s day on Monday with the theme of women’s suffragettes.
Each year the school celebrates St George’s Day with a different English theme, and teaches pupils about the topic in the upcoming weeks.
They also took part in other traditional St George’s Day activities such as a street party, making biscuits and dressing up in white red and blue.
The town crier even came along to the school to make a toast to celebrate the Queen’s recent birthday and the birth of the new royal baby earlier that day.
Headteacher Richard Hatt said: “For 10 years now we have been celebrating St George’s Day at our school.
“We believe it is very important for the children to understand and celebrate their English roots.
“We chose the theme of the women’s suffragettes as it has been 100 years since women gained the right to vote.”
