At around 8.45am, the teenage girl was waiting at the crossing near to John of Gaunt School in Wingfield Road on Friday.
Once the pedestrian light went green, she began crossing the road but as she stepped out, a car continued through the red light for moving traffic and clipped her right leg.
She sustained bruising to her leg as a result of the incident.
The driver of the car, who was a man, did not stop but said an apology out of the window, and then drove off.
