LAST weekend Nick Jones and his team took the Foundation for Bereavement up north, as they prepared for their Everest expedition by climbing Ben Nevis.

Nick, 50, from Westbury, who is terminally ill, set up the foundation in April for his children and has been hosting a series of events across the summer, including bingo nights and a football tournament.

Their latest trip to Scotland however, took a turn for the worst after long-time friend, Julian, slipped on the mountain and had to be air ambulance to hospital.

Mr Jones, who embarks on the Everest climb in October, said: “thankfully there were some paramedics passing who helped us until the helicopter came. It was scary, but everyone made it to the top of the mountain and Julian was fine when we got to the hospital.”

Nick’s next event is this Saturday, from 12pm, at Players Club in Westbury.
