First meeting for country park's friends

Biss Meadow Biss Meadow

THE first public meeting of a new group called The Friends of Biss Meadow Country Park was held on Tuesday night.

James McDonald, of Woolpack Meadows, set up the group with the aim of enhancing the area in Trowbridge to make it more popular with local people.

He said: “The meeting went very well. We had about 20 people there and a couple from West Wiltshire District Council and the churches and a few people from each of the estates.

“They have all signed up to be members of the group and we are having another meeting on January 20 to form a committee.

“In the meantime we might do something like a litter pick to tidy the place up at the beginning of the year.”

Suggestions discussed at the meeting included creating a natural mountain bike dirt track away from the footpaths, a lake with a picnic area and a lakeside walk and improving the existing pond to make it less attractive for drunks and drug users to hang around by.

Once the committee is formed the group can apply for funding to help pay for some of their ideas.

Anyone interested in joining should email friendsofbiss@aol.co.uk or call Mr McDonald on 01225 765831.

I have a lot of hope for this project, it will completely transform this area for all, the disabled, mothers with buggies, and make it safe for the children and very educational, it will give people some thing really nice to look at and look after when it is completed, they need as much support as they can get, there is a beautiful range of wild life around the area, this will bring it all together for the public to see, it will be a nice place to go and walk, take in the wild life, a wide range of wild flowers, it is and will be an even better place for the local schools to go and walk around on nature walks, the children will learn a wide range of thing from this area, but it does need a good clean up, and a lot of T.L.C. all volunteers welcome just contact Mr McDonald or drop him an E-Mail. You will not regret it.

How precisely do you improve a pond to make it less attractive to drunks? Install sprinklers that react to alcohol in the air and spray the intoxicated with industrial effluent on a 5-minutely basis?

If it is cleaned up, then the police will be able to petrol it and see them, with me so far, then they can move them on, or arrest them, it needs this project to stop all what is going on.
May be you can come up with a better idea and we can all sit back and relax knowing you know best.
Or do you want to stop being a T*** and support them or are you one of the drunks and will have to stay at home and drink. It's because of negative people like you, it’s the way it is now, that is why Friends Of Biss Meadow is trying to get the project off the ground, you have no idea how many people have given up there time to get it this far, the work and effort to gain the support for the project, it’s for every one to enjoy and make use of a beautiful area going to the dogs a very interesting and education place to go and walk, NO not drive round WALK, some thing most people have forgotten to do, or cant because there is nothing like this in Trowbridge, around Trowbridge on the edge of Trowbridge but not IN IT.

Perhaps the ex-owner of the land (and present owner of the ransom strip?)which I understand was purchased by a spectacularly stupid/witless ditrict council without due diligence should be consulted on what he's got in mind for the land?
