Bradford on Avon campaigners go blue for climate cause

Blue faces and a samba band went marching through Bradford on Avon to draw attention to a international climate change campaign.

More than 150 supporters joined in the one-mile walk, cycle or run, led by the Bath Samba Band, at Barton Farm Country Park in October. They aimed to cover the circuit 350 times between them, to signify the safe upper limit (350) for carbon dioxide measured in ‘parts-per-million’ in the atmosphere.

It was one of more than 5,000 events taking place across 180 countries to mark the International Day of Climate Action.

Organiser and chairman of Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, Richard Craft, said it was about people having fun, but also encouraging them to realise the serious message behind the day.

He said: “If we can work together to cover 350 miles, we can all work together to combat climate change.”

Those taking part dressed in blue in honour of The Wave, a climate change march due to take place in London on December 5.
