Baptist church launches appeal after pews plan refused

A baptist church in Bradford on Avon which was refused permission to replace its Victorian pews with chairs is appealing against the decision.

The Old Baptist Church in St Margaret’s Street has formally appealed against Wiltshire Council’s decision.

Church leaders want to replace the 27 pews, which are not original to the 1797 chapel, with removable chairs, to enable the church building to be used more by groups.

The Planning Inspectorate has given a time limit of six weeks for submissions in connection with the application.

This is exactly what happened in Melksham Baptist Church, which looks like a identical copy of this one. And no-one complained about the change.

Why don't they just pray to their god? I'm sure that this mythical diety will see to it in his/her all-seeing wisdom. On second thoughts, perhaps they should stick the the real world and stick with the planning appeal.
