Roald Dahl’s The Witches will horrify half-term holidaymakers at St Laurence School next week, courtesy of the Bradfordians amateur dramatics group.
The adaptation, by children’s playwright David Wood, features puppets and a radio-controlled mouse, and special effects including strobe lighting and smoke machines.
Bradfordians chairman Phil Courage said: “We have been reading magic books to find out how to make people disappear on stage, or transform into a mouse.
“There will be a free witch for every child. When we did the Pied Piper we offered a free rat and before the dress rehearsal I got a call from the RSPCA. I’m now expecting a call from the local coven.”
Performances at the Bradford on Avon school will take place on February 17 at 6pm and on February 18-20 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from the town library or online at www.bradfordians.co.uk
