Budding youngsters followed in the footsteps of Doctor Who when they hunted down Daleks in Corsham.

A competition to find seven Daleks hidden among 50 shop windows ended with three winners, Sophie Sweetlove, aged 13, Matthew Little, 10, and Ben Hunt, five.

Among the prizes awarded were tickets to Longleat Safari Park and mystery gifts courtesy of supermarket Somerfield.

The lucky winners were among 120 entries into the Easter Spot the Item in a Shop Window competition, which is held every year.

Corsham Chamber of Commerce president Ian Storey said: “It has been a fun competition. We have been running it for four or five years now to encourage people to look at what is on sale locally.”

Amanda Child, from Daisy Chain Floral Designers, said: “We got involved just to support the town and to get people to look into our window. We had loads of kids looking for the Dalek we had in our window.

“The children came with their parents and so we’ve had loads of people coming into the shop which has been great for our business.”

The organisers chose the Dalek theme to coincide with the Corsham Sci-Fi Day that ran on Saturday at Corsham Community Centre.
