A two-year Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been given to Westbury teenager Derek Wheeler, better known in the town as DJ Wheeler.
Magistrates in Chippenham agreed on Tuesday to place the Asbo on Wheeler, 17, following an application by Wiltshire Council.
An interim order has been in place since July 20. Among behaviour banned under the order, he is forbidden to enter the grounds or buildings of the Westbury Youth Development Centre without permission.
He is also banned from drinking in the streets of Westbury and from being in a group of three or more people acting in a manner causing, or likely to cause, any person to fear for their safety Hilary Marsh, Wiltshire Council’s head of anti-social behaviour reduction, said: “The partnership has undertaken a large amount of work to bring about positive changes in Derek’s behaviour over the past year, however this was unsuccessful and it was agreed that an Asbo would be the next step.
Police Inspector Dave Minty said: “The decision to grant a full Asbo follows a great deal of work from all agencies involved.
“Wiltshire Police continue to work closely with Wiltshire Council and other agencies to reduce anti-social behaviour. We hope that this will help alleviate some of the issues in the area and we encourage members of the community to report any breaches of the order.”
“We are dedicated to making our communities even safer and will take action against those who act in an abusive or intimidating manner.”
A breach of an Asbo is a criminal offence and is punishable by a fine and/or imprisonment or referral to a young offender’s institution, as appropriate.
