A 14-year-old from Broughton Gifford has raised £2,000 by swimming the length of the English Channel at the Corsham Leisure Centre pool.
Keen swimmer Megan Trollope, a pupil at The Corsham School, is aiming to raise £4,000 so she can participate in a school trip to Bolivia next year.
On March 26 and 27 Megan completed 1,408 lengths of the pool in 10hrs 15m, across two sessions of swimming, and raised half her total in sponsorship.
She said: “We thought it would take 11 hours so that was an extra positive.
“I really enjoyed it, it was tiring, and at some points I wasn’t sure if I could complete it, but I was really happy once I’d done it.
“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who sponsored me and a special thank you to all my family and friends, and Chris Floyd who supported me.”
