Legacies to help Wiltshire wildlife

SOLICITORS in Wiltshire are backing the county’s Wildlife Trust this month by offering a will writing discount if people consider leaving a legacy to help protect the county’s flora and fauna.

Kingfishers and other wetland birds are now stretching their wings and scooting over the waters of the south Wiltshire nature reserve of Langford Lakes, near Warminster, 10 years after legacies helped the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust buy the former trout fishery.

Legacies also played a part in securing a future for both the Langford Lakes and Lower Moor Farm nature reserve, near Malmesbury, according to Matthew Powell, the trust’s fund-raising officer.

He said: “We are encouraging wildlife-lovers to make a will and, after looking after their loved ones, consider a gift that will help protect nature.”

For further information, call 01380 725670, extension 288, or visit www.wiltshirewildlife.org.

Solicitors offering special rates this month include Sylvester Mackett in Trowbridge, with 10 per cent off, on 01225 755621; and Will-Power, Warminster, with 20 per cent off, on 01985 806046.

Callers must mention the trust offer when they book an appointment.

The way the economy is going and people having to pay more for their care i think they will struggle to even leave much for their loved ones, yet alone the birdies.

The only way I reckon I could help the birds when I die is to feed the crows and rooks from my rotting corpse.
