The Royal United Hospital in Bath meets all the essential standards of quality and care, according to independent regulator the Care Quality Commission.
The hospital was inspected during a five-day visit in November.
Inspectors went to several wards, the children’s centre, the emergency department, outpatient clinics and specialist departments. They talked to patients, visitors and staff.
The hospital was assessed on eight essential standards of care, including patients being treated with respect and being involved in discussions about their care.
While the inspectors felt all standards were being met, they recommended improvements.
They said that, on the older person’s unit, all patient records for hydration and nutritional needs should be fully completed.
Inspectors also said some patients would benefit from being treated with more dignity when being assisted with eating or using the bathroom.
