Kingdown School's £88k grant bid fails

DESPITE being granted planning permission last month staff and students at King-down School in Warminster will have to wait for a new sixth form centre after losing a key grant bid.

The school applied for £880,000 of Government funding towards the building, which will include a new common room and IT suite for students, and extra office space for staff.

Head of sixth form James Evans said: “We are going to appeal against the decision not to give us this funding, but at the moment the project will just have to go on hold.

“It is a shame as these new facilities would be very much appreciated by the students.”
