Stourhead set for night of lights and fireworks
4:00pm Thursday 19th July 2012 in Latest News
Visitors will get the chance to see Stourhead in a different light, with the temples illuminated as the sun sets over the grounds, while they enjoy a summer picnic with family and friends in the unique setting of the 18th century landscape garden on Saturday.
The evening, from 7.30pm until 10pm, will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display, when the reflections in the lake will bring the garden to life.
Charlotte Toop, visitor experience officer, said: “This year gazebos can to be used to give some shelter to the picnics, where they won’t interrupt other’s views. But please no tents.
“The garden really transforms as people from across the region come to enjoy their picnics and the fireworks.
“This event not only offers an unmissable evening, it also showcases the beauty of Henry Hoare II’s original design, as enjoyed by guests in the 1700s.”
Tickets are £12 each and can be booked online at and www.nationaltrust.org.uk/Stourhead or on 0844 249 1895.
