Women's refuge centre Vine for Pat, in Trowbridge, has been presented with a quilt which it plans to raffle to raise funds.

The quilt was presented last week, to founder Pat Penny, by parishioners of Wesley Road Methodist Church.

The quilt is hand-sewn with a rainbow, diagonal pattern and took more than 1,000 hours to craft.

Mrs Penny said: “I was absolutely thrilled to receive it. The church have been so helpful over the years and have donated many hand-knitted and crocheted baby garments to the charity, which we pass on to the teenagers that we help. “This is the first time we’ve been presented with something so big. It’s beautiful.”

The Vine for Pat refuge provides support and care with temporary accommodation for pregnant young women and those who suffer domestic abuse.

A raffle will be drawn on December 6 by Trowbridge town crier Trevor Heeks.
