Nursery recycles rubbish into cash
7:20pm Monday 23rd July 2012 in Latest News
Queensway Chapel Nursery in Melksham has raised £100 by recycling almost 5,000 pieces of rubbish.
It raised £96.90 by sending 4,745 used yogurt pots, bottles and pens to recycling company TerraCycle.
The firm gives two points, worth 2p, for each item, or they can be swapped for charity gifts. Waste packaging is recycled into plastic products such as bins or watering cans, or “upcycled” for
items such as pencil cases and bags.
Nursery administrator Karen Kerry said: “Our children have really gained an insight into recycling and the importance of resource management.”
