Wiltshire police are calling on the public to help find a man wanted in connection with a burglary where a man was violently assaulted in his home in Frome Road, Trowbridge.

On April 26 at about 3am the victim, a man aged 38, was woken up in his flat by a number of men who broke down his door. They then repeatedly punched him in the head, fracturing his jaw in the process and went on to ransack his flat before stealing a small amount of property.

Detectives believe the incident might have been a case of mistaken identity and want to talk to the man pictured in connection with the incident.

The man is described as white and aged in his late teens.

Detective Sergeant John Rogers, from Melksham CID said: "This victim was violently assaulted in his own home and we would like to hear from anyone who may know this man or believe they know his whereabouts.

"We would like to speak to him in connection with this assault and believe he may have vital information that may assist us.

"This was a terrifying experience that left the victim with a serious injury. If the public can help us locate this man we would like to speak too, this would assist us greatly in the investigation."

Call DS John Rogers from Melksham CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with any information.
