At Matravers School in Westbury it was a double celebration for 17-year-old Jazz Andrews, who received good news in her AS-level results with an A, two Bs and a C, immediately after learning she had passed her driving test.
She said: “I passed my test this morning which was great news anyway, but to get an A and the other results I wanted is fantastic, I’m so pleased.”
She will be continuing her studies in geography, psychology, philosophy and dance at the school next year.
The school achieved its best ever A-level results, with the proportion of students achieving A*-C grades up 20 per cent on last year. They had a 98 per cent pass rate.
Among the school’s top performers were Sarah Ashford-Smith with an A* and two As, as well as head boy Fraser Browning, Abigail Scott and Hannah Sawyer who all got three As.
A specialist arts college, the school had seven out of 11 students who took the subject achieving A*s or As.
Acting headteacher Richard Haupt said: “Well done to all the students and staff at Matravers for such a good set of results.
“This was our best ever year, and scores were up significantly on last year.”
