Police appeal after boy, 5, assaulted in Melksham

Wiltshire Police are appealing for information regarding an alleged assault on a five-year-old boy in Melksham on August 28.

The incident took place outside the Lidl Store, Bath Road, Melksham at 6.20pm.

A man who is alleged to have shouted at, and assaulted, the boy.

The boy did not receive any injury, but another man is reported to have challenged the suspect.

A 43-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquiries.

DC Julie Lewis said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and who saw what happened or who has any information regarding the incident."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Lewis at Melksham Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where details may be left anonymously if preferred.
