A man in his 40s is being treated in hospital after suffering cardiac arrest and being found unconscious in Trowbridge Park.

Emergency services were called this morning at 7.52am by a passer-by after the man was found unconscious on a path.

Paramedics were on the scene within minutes and administered emergency first aid to restore a heartbeat and breathing in the man.

The patient was taken by ambulance to Bath's Royal United Hospital and is understood to have been bleeding profusely from the nose.

Police attended and cordoned off an area from the park's bandstand to Polebarn Road as they investigated the scene but are satisfied that no crime has taken place.

A police spokesman said: "A male was found collapsed in Trowbridge park this morning at approximately 7.45am.  He was treated in situ by paramedics and has been taken to hospital.  He continues to receive medical treatment.
The incident is believed to be a medical incident and it is not being treated as a crime."

What a dreadful thing to happen, and so close to the police station. Six months ago it was reported that three 'predator' cameras would be installed in the park, and that they would be capable of making images in the dark. So presumably the perpetrators will soon be identified and apprehended.

sounds to me he was a drunken homeless eastern european. and as stated in report a medical incident, so looks like he fell of bandstand whilest worse for wear. loojks like he has now got a warm bed and hot meals for a day or 2, and i bet he aint paid a penny into the system, wen he recovers put him on the 1st plane back to where he came from I say, along with all the others who meet there at night. I thought the park was a No Alcohol area.

Where does it say he was drunk, where does it say he fell off the bandstand, where does it say he was Eastern European or any of the other waffle you have wrote???? He couldve been a local hard working man on his way to his place of work!!!

yes he could of been, but every morning when i go to work at 6am through the park and past the bandstand, that is who is there. so putting 2 ans 3 together i came up with 4, unlike the reporter for the Wiltshire Times, who couldn't be bothered to investigate the story.

Why are we all quick to Judge.
Could be a local either coming home or going to work. Taking a short cut threw the park.
Who ever the Man is let's hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Personally i dont care what nationality he is or if he was drunk or not, he is still a human being and a very sick one at that. Lets hope he recovers and i am sure he has some family somewhere worried sick.

Can't believe how rude some people on here are and how quick you all judge people! How would you feel if this was your family member or friend that you were being nasty about?! This man is obviously unwell and needs words of encouragement and sympathy for a speedy recovery! Also my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends at this difficult time. They also don't need to read such awful comments. Have some respect!

melkshamlady you are right, amazing how many jump to conclusions without knowing. It could be that they are unwell too.
I should just ignore it. I dont think I would be offended by these folk, many of whom can't spell.
If I was offended then I would not worry too much either. It's ok to be offended.

With respect melkshamlady have you actually read all the posts? You use phrases such as "some people" and "you all judge people" where in fact only one post was anywhere near negative - and that post was being nasty about some Eastern Europeans, not the person involved.

i knew nick for many years when he lived in westbury and then moved to trowbridge when he met a women,he was kind and would talk to you no matter who or what you are.thats the kind of bloke he was,,always chatting...always meeting new people.he had health problems to live with and he was madley in love with the women he moved in with in trowbridge.sadley it didnt work out and he fell into a pit of dispear.he lost his mum a few years ago to cancer and then his dad died a year later.before anyone passes comment ,i would just like to say that anyone who has a heart will get it broken,this time around,nick could not fix it and sadley felt the only way out was to end it all.
rest in piece nick,,all your friends and family will miss you.you were a good friend and were all be thinking of you in years to come.goodbye friend :(
