A young Warminster artist has painted a new portrait of Lord Bath to celebrate his 80th birthday.
Rachele Spanò, 19, was commissioned in March, and spent more than three months creating the piece, based on photographs she took of the seventh marquis. The picture will hang in Longleat House as part of his local art collection The former Kingdown School student, from Upper Marsh Road, used a friend’s empty barber’s shop in Silver Street as a studio.
She said: “I only met Lord Bath once for the picture, so I could take some photographs, but I think it is very important to meet people you paint so you can see their personality.
“I liked Lord Bath and I wanted to capture his fun character.”
Miss Spanò, who was born in Sicily, sells her portraits, sketches and photographs.
