Anyone who has ever thought about being a local councillor and may be interested in standing in next May’s local elections, can find out more at a series of road shows taking place throughout Local Democracy Week (October 15 to 19).
The evening sessions, being held across the county, would be useful for anyone who has ever thought about a role in local politics and would like to influence what happens in their community.
Council leader Jane Scott said: "This is an exciting opportunity for people to become more involved in local democracy by standing for election and providing leadership in their local community.
"It would be great to see a diverse cross section of our county represented at the next May’s elections, and these road shows will give people an better insight to what being a councillor is all about.”
The road shows start at 7pm on the following dates Monday, October 15 – Civic Centre, Trowbridge; Tuesday, October 16 – City Hall, Salisbury; Wednesday, October 17 – Town Hall, Chippenham and Thursday, October 18 – Corn Exchange, Devizes The elections will take place on May 2 next year.
