Westbury Pair bailed in New Year assault case

A judge has given two friends accused of carrying out a serious assault on New Year's Day permission to contact each other while on bail.

Teenagers Aaron Collinson and Brandon South face a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent.

It is alleged that the pair, both 18, are said to have assaulted Toby Hayden at All Saints Crescent, Edward Street, Westbury, on January 1.

No charges were put to the defendants during the brief hearing at Swindon crown court and they did not enter any pleas.

Alex Daymond, for South, said the pair had known each other for many years and asked for bail conditions banning them having contact with each other be lifted.

Colin Meeke, prosecuting, told the court that the Crown did not object to the application for a change in bail.

Recorder Michael Vere-Hodge QC adjourned the case to December 21 and released the men on conditional bail.

Collinson, of Vicarage Street, Warminster, and South, of Primmers Place, Westbury, are due to enter pleas in December.
