Holbrook Primary head Roger Whitewick welcomes the delegation of European teachers in their own languages
Pupils and staff at Holbrook Primary School in Trowbridge welcomed European visitors to the school this week.
Ten teachers and heads from across Europe visited Holbrook, to see a “typical” British primary school and discuss joint projects for pupils across six countries. The teachers had come were from Slovakia, Germ-any, Hungary, Romania and Croatia.
Headteacher Roger Whitewick said: “This is a great opportunity for our pupils to meet adults from other countries, to share their pride in Britain and to learn more about Europe.” Pupils presented work on their school, town and country to the guests, who taught them about their own countries. The next stage will involve European pupils sharing work with each other over the internet. Over the next two years, schools will meet regularly in the different countries, funded by an EU Comenius grant.
