THREE dads who staged a protest in Stonehenge yesterday as part of the Fathers 4 Justice campaign have been arrested and released on bail.

The men, dressed as cartoon character Fred Flintstone, climbed on the ancient monument at 9.15am yesterday and came down at about 4.30pm, when they were arrested and taken to Salisbury police station.

They are a 40-year-old man and a 41-year-old man, both from Devon and a 29-year-old man from Southampton.

The three were released without charge and are due to report back to the police station in March.

A police spokesman said police arrived at Stonehenge to support English Heritage, which is responsible for the site, and were there for more than seven hours, taking them away from other duties.

He said: "While we are aware of the rights of the fathers' campaign and the right to a peaceful and lawful campaign, it is illegal to climb onto ancient monuments. The three men subsequently came down at about 4.30pm and were arrested for climbing onto the stones which is a specific offence."
