THE National Trust and Volkswagen have joined forces to host an event at Stourhead House and Gardens near Warminster this weekend.
From today until Sunday a team of experts from Volkswagen will be at Stourhead offering visitors a free car eco-check and dishing out advice on how to reduce harmful emissions and increase fuel efficiency.
The team will be carrying out free checks on cars advising on matters such as tyre pressures, ways to reduce a car's weight, the relationship between speed and fuel consumption and how to plan journeys efficiently.
Volkswagen insists if all drivers in Wiltshire improved the fuel efficiency of their vehicles then Carbon Dioxide emissions could be reduced by eight per cent, equating to more than 31,900 tonnes.
Visitors to the event will also be able to test drive the car manufacturer's new fuel efficient Polo BlueMotion.
Rob Jarman, head of sustainability at the National Trust, said: "We hope that people can enjoy the amazing natural beauty and historic interest of our sites whilst causing minimum damage to the environment in the process."
