THE iconic building of Salisbury Cathedral will be the backdrop for a spectacular two day open air medieval fair on May 4-5.
There will be a Living History encampment, armed displays, archery, medieval music, dance, court entertainers, costumes, falconry, medieval crafts, food, ales and the Grand Tourney with medieval knights competing to become the 2008 champion.
The spectacular re-enactment group the Paladins of Chivalry are also setting up home, assuming the roles of particular individuals typical of the society in medieval times.
There will be a central arena with a programme of events including Man at Arms displays, medieval dance and music, falconry displays and the Grand Tourney.
The event has been organised by Sarah Rickett from the cathedral, who said: "This two day open air medieval fair is a fitting celebration of the medieval past of Salisbury to mark the cathedral's 750th anniversary."
Tickets are available from Salisbury Playhouse box office by calling 01722 320333, or online via www.salisbury750.co.uk
