Playground revamp under way

WORK is underway on a new playground in Clackers Brook off Queensway in Melksham.

The area is designated an Active Play Environment and is being paid for with some BIG Lottery funding that West Wiltshire District Council applied for.

It is designed to encourage children to use fun and unusual play equipment to play actively and will include a three-way seesaw, a nest swing and a wooden climbing frame with nets and a slide.

Work is set to finish by the end of next week and a formal opening ceremony will be held once the grass has grown back.

Do they supply soap? Perhaps the wash will wake up the kids. The parents might also like to join them.

Thursday evening at 9.30 there were some little dears(about 10/11 years old) ripping down the fencing around this 'play area'. At this rate it will be destroyed before the opening so no problem with the brook being so near!!

I certainly agree that the playground won't last long while people watch it being vandalised and don't bother to dial 999. If you have the time to write this, then you have time to call the the police...

re jaysays comment- what's the point of dialing 999. The police aren't interested in coming out for this. too much paperwork!! and anyway ,I suppose
this stops the little dears from smashing a few bottles, or stealing the odd bicycle or two.
